Richaud Petite Bakery

Tucked into a tiny storefront on Perry Street in the West Village, Richaud Petite Bakery is the work of French former actor Richaud Valls, who traded the stage for bread-making, turning a pandemic hobby into one of the neighborhood’s most charming spots. A few outdoor seats catch the sun throughout the day, surrounded by pots of basil and herbs, while it is not unusual to hear the staff calling out orders in French. The lively atmosphere of the tiny bakery, paired with the enchanting smell of fresh baked bread and pastries drifting onto Perry Street, immediately transports you to a dreamy neighborhood in Paris - It truly feels like a little slice of Paris in New York.

Opened in June 2026, Richaud quickly became a local favorite among the Perry residents before going "viral" on social media and expanding its audience. Its Jambon Beurre became a particular favorite (rightfully so), alongside an assortment of traditional French pastries, breads, and other baked goods.

However, as bread and sandwiches can be replicated, the truly irreplaceable aspect of Richaud is the experience. Watching the French baker at his craft, the one-of-a-kind storefront (adjacent to the rare book seller Left Bank Banks) + architecture nestled within the West Village, and the personality and hospitality of the staff all come together to make it feel as though the streets of Paris have somehow found their way onto Perry.

Artwork: With the core design created by Jacomo Mueller, this artwork reimagines Richaud Petite Bakery as a vintage French advertising poster. In the early 20th century, colorful advertising posters were a familiar part of everyday life, appearing in newspapers, along city streets, and across the walls of railway stations and other transportation hubs. More than a century later, that form of advertising has largely disappeared, but its distinctive aesthetic remain. Reimagined for Richaud, this artwork brings together French advertising design with details inspired by the bakery, its Perry Street storefront, and its connection between Paris and New York. It is a playful addition to any kitchen, dining room, living space, or gallery wall, bringing a little color, character, and taste of Richaud home
