Since opening its doors in 1980, The Odeon has stood at the corner of West Broadway and Thomas Street as one of New York City's defining restaurants. At a time when Tribeca was still a neighborhood of warehouses, artists' lofts, and quiet streets, it became the downtown gathering place for painters, filmmakers, writers, musicians, and actors, helping shape the cultural identity of Lower Manhattan. More than four decades later, its glowing neon sign, timeless brasserie interior, and unmistakable corner presence remain enduring symbols of New York dining.
Inspired by an original early twentieth-century French advertising poster, this artwork has been restored and re-created as a vintage advertisement for The Odeon. The composition portrays an elegantly dressed couple in classic Art Deco geometric shapes sharing a bottle of champagne beneath the warm glow of a crimson dining room, capturing the effortless sophistication and convivial spirit that have long defined the restaurant. Reimagined through the bold graphic language of classic Art Deco and European poster design, it pays tribute to one of Tribeca's most iconic institutions and one of New York's great brasseries.
