Lake Tahoe sits high in the Sierra Nevada on the California and Nevada border, and golf has a long history on its Nevada shore. Edgewood Tahoe, built on land the Park family bought as a ranch in 1896, opened its course in 1968 with a design credited to the Fazio family. It has since hosted the U.S. Public Links in 1980, the U.S. Senior Open in 1985, and the American Century Championship every year from 1990 on.
This print draws on the painted look of 1920s and 1930s resort posters, with a golfer in a flat cap, knickers and patterned socks caught at the top of his backswing. Behind him a bright blue lake laps a grassy shore dotted with swimmers, and snowcapped peaks rise above a line of pines. The lettering notes an altitude of 6,225 feet, names Lake Tahoe, and promises golf in the High Sierras, Nevada, 18 holes.
